The faint marks are every other quest objective recorded in this zone. There is no zone artwork here, so they stand in for the coastline: quests only send you where the zone is walkable.

Standing there and seeing nothing?

  • practice. Convention among strong players. Widely followed, but it is not a rule and it can be wrong.Open your own quest log map. If the game draws no marker there, you are not in the phase for it, and that is definitive. Trust the game over us, and tell us in the comments so we can record it.

What To Do

Complete the quest objective shown in your tracker in Vol'dun, then return to the turn-in NPC.

Quest Text

Akunda the Exalted is not who he seems. He poisoned the eternal spring, sickening all who drank from it. Even I was not immune to his abhorrent alchemy. Now he drains my power, abusing my gift to wipe the minds of all who might try to stop him. We will not let him succeed. What little power I have left, I will lend to you. Use it to call the storm and end the madness that has taken over my temple.

Stuck?

Check the exact quest giver and turn-in records above first. Use this page's community comments for phase changes, cave entrances, spawn timing, and corrections from the live game.

Group size

No group size is listed by Blizzard, so this is usually soloable unless the objective text says otherwise.

Use the evidence

Pin the quest in-game, enable objective outlines, then use the exact-title references in the archive for NPC or object coordinates. Add a correction below if the live game differs from this record.

Field notes

Objectives and map pin

Blizzard's public API publishes a quest's text and rewards but not its objectives, its own level, whether it can be shared, or any map coordinate. Nobody has synced quest 48996 yet, so there is nothing to show here rather than a guess. Running the WowGodSync addon while you play contributes those fields for everyone.

Have I done this?

Check it in game

Quest completion is stored per character on Blizzard's side and is not in the public API, so paste this in your chat box and it prints true or false for “Ending the Madness” on the character you are logged into.

Completion check
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(48996))
Warband-wide check (11.0+)
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompletedOnAccount(48996))

A false also comes back for a quest id the client does not know, so it means “not recorded as complete” rather than proof the quest exists on your account.
